PARK ASSIST in Mercedes EXPLAINED!

Heard of the Mercedes-Benz Active Park Assist or Parking Pilot? It basically assists the driver with parking in either parallel parking or bay parking.

This video showcases Active Park Assist in a bay parking space. Parallel parking follows the same procedure but not all cars have the ability to do it.

As mentioned at the end of the video, due to United Nations Regulations (UN-R 79) not all cars have "Active" Park Assist. Some may not have it all, sone may only offer bay parking and/or only parallel parking. Speak with your local Mercedes and they can confirm if your car has this feature.

Watched this when I got my car 5 months ago. Used this for the first time on a spot that I was convinced too small to fit (and I consider myself a PPP parallel parking pro😂). My notes from the video helped and parked the car like a dream. Yes I had to go round once because someone was riding my tail…but it was worth it.
Ps it changed the gears for me …I did nothing but kept my foot hovered over the brakes just in case.

Thanks Nick, great video! I have a B250e. I use park assist and it works great, but it is a bit slow, so if there are other cars behind me I usually don't use it but instead park manually because I can do it faster.

I have owned a 2022A class AMG Line Premium for two years and have given park assist numerous opportunities to do a successful Park Assist (my car has the Park Assist button). I have lost count of the number of attempts BUT - it has NEVER had a successful assist yet. It goes through the motions scanning here and there and very occasionally does identify a parking space - but it fannys about so much that someone up my arse forces me to abandon the attempt. It is a lab based system that cannot cope in the real world unless say it’s 3 am in the morning and you are in a car park no one ever uses.

The used gle 350 2022 I bought didn’t list this as a feature while other listings had it listed so we just thought it wouldn’t have it. Paid to purchase the original window stocked to get an idea of what features there actually are as the was the heated and cooled cup holders but it was not listed on the website. So we thought they might’ve missed a lot of features and they sure did! There is the park assist, and the full driver’s assistance package plus! Not to mentioned that the amg exterior package was not listed as well, but that you can clearly tell. We haven’t had much time to explode the different features until now so was pleasantly surprised to find all the extra features!

Thanks Nick for another great video. I am leasing a 2022 A Class 220 which came equipped with the active park assist. I tried using the feature a couple of times and it did not work for me very well. However, after watching your video I realize the mistakes I was making. This video is super helpful as well as all your other videps I have watched thus far. Your videos are better than reading the manual and are far more interesting 🙂. Keep the videos coming!

I have this system in my C Class. One thing you didn't mention is that you can then use the same automation to get the car to drive you out of the parking spot when it's next started; useful if you've used park assist to park in an awkward spot.

Good video again Nick. I have used it quite scary and very slow especially if anyone is behind waiting they think you can’t drive. Also if no one is behind I park it myself as I can drive 😂

Good video. My 2017 C-class parallel parked well enough, but it was slow and would put dry turns on the wheels, I rarely used it. My 2021 (both from Sandown Poole) C-class has never done it, you've only just shown me how today, but I didn't miss it, you'll notice on both your bay parks it needlessly took two bites? I think it only really came into its own in pouring rain where you can't reliably see in your mirror!

Great video Nick which I am going to study in more detail. I have a 2 month old CLA 250e, I’ve had a play around with park assist but it seems to only want to park me front ways in, not reverse so this is what I need to look at in greater detail, I must be missing something. 9 times out of 10 I choose the reverse park. Couple of things to remember. ParkAssist will only work when you want to park between 2 cars. It will not work in situations when you want to park alongside 1 car or between a car and a wall. This is widely omitted by many posters. GLC300 "23

Thanks for the video. I'm new to Mercedes and a consistent seems to be confusion on purchased car specifications and massive manuals. Exactly my experience too. I knew I had park assist but I believe it only parks centrally between two cars so is pretty limited as it requires their to be two properly parked cars to work - life is too short to rule out all the other parking spaces just to use tech!
