SportsKid of the Year Nominee - Ezra Frech

Watch the inspiring story of Ezra Frech, a nominee for Sports Illustrated Kids 2014 SportsKid of the Year Award. This summer, Ezra set seven national track and field records in the 60-meter, 100-meter and 400-meter races, along with the long jump, shot put, discus, and javelin. He’s quite the dominant athlete, and his story is particularly inspiring since he is a below-the-knee amputee. In addition to winning nine gold medals at the National Junior Disability Championships, Ezra led his summer league basketball team to a 10-0 record. He also earned his blue belt in karate. What’s more, Ezra speaks at schools about being different and mentors younger athletes. Since he was six months old, he has been the inspiration for Team Ezra, a group of family and friends that raises money for the physically disabled. Team Ezra has raised over $300,000 for CAF, which provides grants to challenged athletes to live active lives.
