How have I gone my whole life and never even heard of this???

back in 1949 I built one with expandable tires so the gear ratio changed as the tires expanded with speed. Mine wasn't aerodynamic so it only reached 120 mph with an 049 engine.

I calculate the radius of this track to be about 9.8m, in which case the car is experiencing 80g of centrifugal force @ 317kph

I spent my 20's on that track, standing on the center pole and whipping the cars to speed so the engine would start.
With old men giving me strict instructions on how to do it. But they were all the same way. Just as hard as I could pull.
I did it all for my dad. The greatest dad ever.

Crazy how as soon as it gets to that curved outer wall it acts like a Jetstream, funneling the air being compressed in front of the car into the tube, which then expands behind the car, creating a low pressure area which then causes the high pressure in front of the car to be sucked into the tube even faster.

It uses air pressure to create a suction, virtually eliminating drag by converting the difference in pressure into a force that pulls the car forward rather than slowing it down.
