lightening infill is cheating. its technically not an accurate benchy of time. Its a short cut.

Lol.. is that how prusa prints "faster"? Slicing benchy with 1 wall and no infill? :D

Hopefully this will be ready for the XL since they share so much. I'm still excited about my reservation on the 5 head unit

For some reason it soothes me that there are a usage of metric/grams now more and more.

The main issue is that for the price, it's just not really worth it anymore. You have options like the Creality K1 and the Bambu Labs P1P that are much cheaper and can print just as good prints. The way that Prusa prints benchies faster is basically a lie on the inside. It avoids all the major standard infill basically that even the K1 and P1P do. I'm all for good quality Prusas, but if Prusa doesn't lower the price or make a faster printer soon, they aren't going to last in this market.

I have two X1Cs and while I think they're phenomenal machines that beat the MK4 in almost every way, I still try to support Prusa when I can. Prusa has made (and continues to make) tremendous contributions to the open source 3D printing community, whereas Bambu contributes almost nothing. We had to twist their arm (hard) to get them to release the source to Bambu Studio, despite it being a fork of an open source project (PrusaSlicer) whose license makes it clear that any forks must also be open source. If you value open source, you need to support the companies and projects that contribute to it. Otherwise why should they bother?

Are the parts as strong as normal speed. When I print things they are not for TOYS. I make parts or prototypes. Strength and accuracy is more important.

My Bamboo X1 Carbon did it's benchy did it in 17 min after 5 or so min of test print and shanking. The letters on the bottom have gaps but up from there it's perfect. So I guess it's done to which printer can print a Benchy with the least amount of infill to be the quickest.

Everyone is talking about how Prusa is outdated now but their quality and reliability is what matters to them the most and that’s why most people love their printers

These day if you're not able to print it under 10 minutes it's slow even for a bed slinger. I'm not a massive prusa printer fan, but I am a fan of other things prusa has done.

I have a printer with max speed of 250mm/s. it costs 300€
you have the mk4 with a max speed of 200mm/s it costs between 900 and 1200€ depending if it's assembled or not

Mk4 and mk3 are the exact same speed until high flow hotends release for nextruder. This is a concept called law of constraints, the bottleneck is the limiting factor and both units share the same bottleneck, the hotend. Neither are motion limited the motors can go much faster, both are flow limited. Flow = width x height x speed. You can break that down any way you like input side wise but the mk4 and mk3 have the same hard limit, approximately 12 cubic flow, which is slow at half or less, to other modern premium printers. Input shaping doesn't make printers faster, it reduces ringing at the expense of smoothing away surface details. Tldr, with the 10mm vs 8mm rods to improve rigidity, and addition of input shaping, there will be less ringing at the same "speeds" the mk3 can also hit.

Does it print everything faster or is it optimized to print that boat really fast?

The input shaping also comes to the mk3s+?

This is not a benchy, just a little ship with no infill...

I've managed to get #speedboatrace benchy finished successfuly at about 21minutes on my Mk4, but cooling is not sufficient.

How does fast printing work on high temp filaments like ASA and nylon? Is it even possible?
