DON'T DO THIS....A baby should never be carried in front of the stomach, facing the direction of travel. Why? I have three reasons for this:

A proper spread-squat position cannot be achieved when carried in front of the stomach, facing the direction of travel. This is because the baby's legs adapt to the curve of your body. The carrier or sling only supports this position. However, when the baby is facing forward, there is no body to rest its legs on. They dangle. The baby's back is pulled straight by the dangling legs. In newborns, however, the spine is still naturally curved and only straightens over time.

This position is very unfavorable for the development of a healthy back. Especially for small babies, it's too many impressions when they have the whole world unfiltered in front of them and can't really withdraw.

Solution for this carrying mistake There are simple, safe, and also more comfortable carrying alternatives for the wearer. In the first weeks and months, you should always carry in front of the stomach, facing the wearer's chest.

This is usually the default setting for a baby carrier. You can find the correct carrying techniques for a sling here.

From around 6 to 9 months, you can also carry your child safely on your hip or on your back
