Yamaha MT07 LA Review: First impressions

Not my usual kind of bike to review! While waiting for my WR250R to be repaired I was given the Yamaha MT07 (learner model) for the day.

For the price you do get a lot of bike. The best thing about this bike is the sound (with an aftermarket pipe). This is because of its 270 degree crank. Looks are similar to most bikes in the budget middle weight naked category, nothing ground breaking.

The MT07 was easy to get along with, the only gripe handling wise was a twitchy front end.

Over all an enjoyable ride and a decent (torquey) option for the budget conscious.

Got to agree with Chuck. It does stand out from the usual middleweight bikes because of everything it offers
1.Superb torque
2.extremely lightweight/easy handling

this was the bike of the year, and of course for a lot more reasons than sound.

The mt 07 beats any bike in it's category.

BTW, traffic lights don't have pressure sensors. They are Induction sensors that sense steel in the vehicle. Hence they don't work well with alloy wheels

Are you sure your on the HO version? I believe they come with blue wheels and blue frame, You might be on the learner version.

The Yamaha MT-07HO has the bigger engine 689cc, weighs 179kg wet which is lighter by 3kg over the 655cc model. The 655cc is aimed at new riders. The 689cc is for full licenced riders & only available in the colour racing blue & in limited numbers according to Bikebiz website.

thanks of ur comfort zone on this mt07 but thank you anyway....I rode a friends Honda VTR 250 and afterwards jumped on my BMW F650 gs and it felt like a tractor compared to that but as the VTR. is only a 250 I was looking at something with more power and torque and then I came across the Yamaha MT 07 LLLLOVED THE SOUND of it.... true its short in the front but I think that just takes time to get use too ...And I've been trying to get my mates interested in off road adventures but to no avail .... hence the search for something else in the lams category ....kind regards Phil

Is that aftermarket pipe street legal? I'm thinking of getting one but all the videos on youtube have the DB killer removed. So I am not sure what the akropovic exhaust sounds like when it is street legal.
