Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland Australia about 45kms north of Brisbane - the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started Self Sufficient Me in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. My girlfriend and I often fall asleep listening to your knowledge and wisdom. It's like a dad telling us a bed time story. We always wake up refreshed wanting to plant. 🤭

I can confirm the Lemon blossoms are surprisingly fragrant. You'll get far more blossoms than fruit so pulling some off won't hurt your production. I haven't tried it but thinking about crushing a blossom and putting it in a cup of hot tea.

Just as I think about waiting for a lemon tree, this video shows up in my feed. I'm getting a Eureka.

That frog on the lemon, at 1:22, is just the cutest thing ever! Here on Canada’s West Coast, there are a few lemon trees which survive, in sheltered spots, but container growing is the best way!

I just recently bought 5 half wine barrels (150 litre capacity) got 15 50 kg casters (swivel wheels) from Bunnings and fitted them to the base of the barrels. Now we have 5 movable plant pots containing dwarf fruit trees and Blueberries, each weighing about 130 kilos and they move easily about and the casters lock so they don't roll away. :)

I was not getting the vitamin C I needed, so, I have a big water bottle. I started squeezing 1 lemon into my water. I also got a new dog, so potty training walking, with my lemon water, I lost 30 pounds, in 1 year. No other exercise, just walking. I keep trying to grow from seed, cuz I have millions of em!! I will keep in a pot now, and see if indoor or outdoor is best. Hot, hot summers, cold winters, I will keep trying!! I have 2 cuttings of a lemon tree, put it in a aloe vera pocket, in a pot with dirt, will see if it roots, the rose cutting is working, that way!!

I have too agree 100% with your 5 reasons to grow a Lemon tree.  I am in SoCal and we have a Lisbon Lemon variety in our yard.  This tree is at least 60 years old and is large and as healthy as any tree half its age.  We can harvest a 5 gal bucket every 2 or 3 days just by giving the branches a good shake, if ripe, the lemons just fall right off. We have many neighbors who come by for a bag full on a weekly schedule. We squeeze a lemon, add some dill pickle juice with V-8 tomato juice as a refreshing tonic.
