RSLinx OPC Data Testing Using OPC Test Client | RSLinx DDE/OPC Topics Tips & Tricks

Testing your OPC data from the PLC connection can better help your troubleshooting & verifying that the Data through RSlinx is actually working.

A simple way to test this is by using the OPC Test Client that comes with RSlinx. Whether using a third-party OPC server or just a Rockwell Automation OPC server, the OPC test client will show if the data is working or not.

This way, you can determine if the problem is the communication setup or the other side of the OPC server.

I have a question, till @5:00, I have followed all steps and working fine but I am unable to find my 'OPC Server Prog ID' in the 'Located Servers' list. What are the additional steps to do? It is showing only two default servers - RSLinx OPC Server & Remote OPC server.

Thank you but I have a question: What happens if you get your PLC offline? RSlinx goes always on as well as the Factory? It seems they are both running from cache. Is there a way that the Factory flags up the loss of connection once the PLS goes offline?
