Ἡ ἀσώματος φύσις, τὰ Χερουβείμ, ἀσιγήτοις σε ὕμνοις, δοξολογεῖ.
Ἑξαπτέρυγα ζῷα, τὰ Σεραφείμ, ταῖς ἀπαύστοις φωναῖς σε, ὑπερυψοῖ.
Τῶν Ἀγγέλων τε πᾶσα ἡ στρατιά, τρισαγίοις σὲ ᾄσμασιν, εὐφημεῖ.
Πρὸ γὰρ πάντων ὑπάρχεις, ὁ ὢν Πατήρ, καὶ συνάναρχον ἔχεις, τὸν σὸν Υἱόν.
Καὶ ἰσότιμον φέρων, Πνεῦμα ζωῆς, τῆς Τριάδος δεικνύεις, τὸ ἀμερές.
Παναγία Παρθένε, Μήτηρ Θεοῦ, οἱ τοῦ Λόγου αὐτόπται, καὶ ὑπουργοί,
Προφητῶν καὶ Μαρτύρων, πάντες χοροί, ὡς ἀθάνατον ἔχοντες, τὴν ζωήν.
Ὑπὲρ πάντων πρεσβεύσατε, ἐκτενῶς, ὅτι πάντες ὑπάρχομεν, ἐν δεινοῖς.
Ἵνα πλάνης ῥυσθέντες, τοῦ πονηροῦ, τῶν Ἀγγέλων βοήσωμεν, τὴν ᾠδήν.
Ἅγιε, Ἅγιε, Ἅγιε, Τρισάγιε Κύριε, ἐλέησον καὶ σῶσον ἡμᾶς. Ἀμήν"
The bodiless nature of the cherubim glorifies You in
unsilenced praise.
Six winged creatures, the seraphim, exalt You in unceasing
voices.
All the hosts of angels praise You in the thrice-holy chant.
Before everything, You exist, being the Father; and
You have with You, Your Son, who is co-eternal.
And as You have the Spirit of life in equal honor, You
manifest the undividedness of the Trinity.
Most Holy Virgin, Mother of God; All eye witnesses
and ministers of the Word;
All the choirs of Prophets and Martyrs, since yours
is life eternal,
Make fervent intercession in behalf of us all, for we
are in peril.
That being delivered from the deceipt of the evil
one, we may sing aloud the angelic hymn:
Holy, holy, holy! Thrice-holy Lord, have mercy on
us and save us. Amen.
Hymns of the Great Apodeipnon (Compline)
The Great Apodeipnon (Compline) is a service that is very dear
to the Orthodox faithful. In this service, which is read
from Monday to Thursday during Lent, some of the
most ancient hymns of our Church are chanted.
