Inner Planets Orrery with Mars' axial tilt and rotation.

The Inner Planet Orrery has evolved further to now feature something that I had considered for a long while... Mar's axial tilt and rotation. I was not confident that driving three bevel gears on one train would give good results but I am very pleased on how smooth the drive is. Mission accomplished!

Beautiful piece of craftsmanship. Just waiting for the gear cutters to arrive to start my version of of your nine planet Orrery with the central hub of gears. [ HG wells type version ]. Damn complicated...sleeves within sleeves I believe. ingenious design and my hats off to you...from an old retired machinist. No need to worry about competition, it will be a one off...presuming I live that long lol.

Your latest orrery is really impressive. Very stylish too. Great work as usual! The triple bevel gear is a good idea. I like that Mars seems being made of copper, it looks nice. By the time it turns naturally greenish or bluish, maybe the planet will be terraformed, you truly have thought of everythig!

I have a few question. From 0:22, why is the pin blocking the rotation of the small wheel seems really long? The reason isn’t obvious. What is the hand wheel near the Mars axis for? I thought it could be used to drive the mechanism from there but the worm driven by the crank is going to block if you do this. The last question is: what tooth profile do you use? It seems too triangular to be involute and to thick at the base to be cycloidal.

I myself just finished my orrery as you can see on my channel. Very simple but it makes me appreciate more the others like yours. Maybe one day I’ll have my own Genesis-like orrery!

Do you have a model of the entire solar system, including Pluto?
