Dave, I have something set up very similar to this (uploading BME280/TSL2561 data to ThingSpeak from ESP8266 Wemos D1). I've had success with using millis() for timing combined with deep sleep. What I've noticed is...when my WiFi is down, the ESP will continue to try to get a connection (see 5:15) as it's stuck in a while loop. This will cause the chip to heat up. We were down for 7 hrs and when I reset the GFI and router came back, the temp was high and RH was low (hot chip)...before it settled back down to reality 10 mins later. I've tried to address this in code but am struggling (it will connect and get a few data points but then drops out and does not come back). Thoughts/advice? I'd be willing to share code.

Hello sir, I'm new to IoT and just learning it. I'm currently working on deep sleep using nodemcu and dht11 to plot graph on thing speak. I've my data uploaded on thing speak with matlab code. I see that you use ESP8266 modules and new esp32 modules. If you compare esp8266 and esp32 what is you experience? Is esp32 much faster than esp8266 ? Again thanks for your tutorials
