1990s: “Don’t sit too close to the TV, you’ll ruin your eyesight!”
2020s: “Wear screen glasses all day & block out reality!”

I think the biggest problem is people abusing devices like these just like they do their smartphones. I think just like smartphones, these could actually have benefits to learning and experiencing things you may never have an opportunity to see, even if digitally. But if people live with these on 24/7 like smartphones, that’s where it will be the downfall

It is very easy to defeat an enemy who isn't even aware they are at war.

I'm sad for the children who will be "raised" by these people.

We’re all too tired from bad food, a poisoned environment, and watching the collapse of society to get off the couch and go augment our own reality.

What is a woman definitely is worth far more an Oscar than anything produced in Hollyweird these days

So i am actually a VR/AR developer for specialized reasons. I totally agree. People spend way too much time on their phones and honestly…this product will not take off.

Virtual reality is a videogame; Augmented reality is a nightmare.

This is only going to make people even more isolated than now. It’s a terrible idea.

I'm involved in the field of VR/technology professionally. If someone's entire existence revolves around living inside VR, it's important for them to reassess their life choices. Nonetheless, VR is not limited to being a mere consumer product; it also serves practical purposes such as training simulations and professional applications! Love your work Matt!

Poor young people. I'm 35 & ill ask someone only 10+ years younger than me if they've ever gone camping or lit a bonfire. Majority haven't.
Really sad

People won't wear these while ignoring the families inside their homes, Matt. Because the people that are going to buy and use these don't have anyone else to begin with, and most likely live alone inside their studio apartment with the corpse of a cat that died of neglect 2 months ago. 🤷‍♂️

This explains how the people ended up in those incubators with the cord plugged into their head in The Matrix.

If you can get most people to strap an uncomfortable useless mask onto their faces for 2 years then getting them to wear this device will be a piece of cake...

Making a non drug-induced hallucinogenic/schizophrenic experience available to everyone on demand. Matt's right -- just what we needed. One more step toward making mental illness the norm.

Once again, I’m reminded of the book “Fahrenheit 451”.

This is the classic science movie dilemma: Just because you can create an impressive piece of technology, does that mean you should?

Gen Z will love this. Paul Joseph Watson just posted a video where he bemoaned the fact that a high percentage of Gen Z want constant surveillance, of themselves, in their own homes. It's the "telescreen" of 1984, but desired by the occupant. Apparently they demand "safe spaces, " so they want Big Brother watching their every moment, to keep them protected. Personally, I'm a sigma; I don't much care for company, I prefer being alone most of the time- but to hear about this really worries me about the future of the human race, or even the future of civilization!
