Unbearable costs... is what Seoul's top diplomat is warning Pyongyang of... for its latest set of provocations.
South Korea's foreign affairs ministry supports a UNSC statement regarding the North's missile tests... one that's reportedly in the works.
But, as our Kwon Soa reports... members of the international community have already been joining Seoul in condemning the Kim Jong-un regime.
Seoul's Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se called North Korea the "gravest threat" to the international community's nonproliferation efforts... and Pyongyang's advancement of its nuclear program "stubborn."
Yun made the comments at the 26th Nuclear Suppliers Group meeting currently underway in Seoul,... where government officials and experts are discussing the safe export of nuclear material that could be used to make weapons... if it gets into the wrong hands.

"As long as North Korea continues to defy the non-proliferation regime, we, the whole world, should remind North Korea that its misbehavior will have unbearable costs."

Yun also stressed the stark difference between Iran and North Korea,... describing how the two were the biggest challenges for the group in 2003,... the last time South Korea hosted the event.
He said the biggest challenge now is Pyongyang,... pointing to its fourth nuclear test in January... and the two ballistic missile launches on Wednesday.
On those launches, the UN Security Council's fifteen members convened at the UN headquarters in New York on Wednesday.

"An emergency meeting was held at the council at the request of South Korea, the U.S. and Japan and discussions on a press statement were said to have been held."

French representative Francois Delattre, the council's current president, said, however, the statement is unlikely to be produced within a day.
In Washington, the White House clarified its stance against the launches.

"The United States strongly condemns the provocative action by the North Korean government that is a flagrant violation of their international obligations."

The EU also stressed Pyongyang is arousing strong condemnation from the international community,... according to an official Thursday, who vowed the EU fully supports South Korea's efforts in averting escalation of tensions on the Korean Peninsula.
