CPX 35: Can You Be Saved Outside the Catholic Church?

TS 2:09. This is the ninth article of the creed as found in the Catechism of Pope St. Pius X (CPX) 9.6 p. 31. Q/A #27-30

This is a difficult one to hear. I used to be a protestant and most of my family and friends are protestants. I want to believe that they are saved because they are baptized believers in Christ.

But from personal experience, I know that I received more grace when I entered the Catholic Church. I have found a freedom from both sin and temptation, a desire to be holy and a means to attain that holiness through the sacraments.

I wonder if protestants will spend more time in purgatory to purify them since they confess their sins in prayer only and do not receive the sacrament of reconciliation.

May Jesus have mercy and draw all men unto Himself!

Dear Father Nix, since mid- October I've started the initiation process to join the Catholic Church. If I die or if Jesus comes anytime before April 2022 (the baptism), I believe, and hope that, I will be qualified to be one with an "implicit desire to baptism"?

When you refer to the Council of Trent and say "part 3 session 6"... where is that? I have a Council of Trent, but it is not broken into sessions...

Romans 10:9 "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, then you shall be saved." Belief in Jesus saves us not the Catholic church.
