1981-1982 recession was a factor in the closure of Happy Joe's in Zanesville OH mall. Retail space was too expensive. Open/shut after only 2 years.

Joe Whitty passed away in 2019, just after he sold the company. I grew up in Davenport and Happy Joe’s is an institution in the Quad Cities.
