A phase-splitting device

Показать описание
A phase-splitting deviceA phase splitter is a device that separates a signal into multiple phases. It is used for processing of analogue and digital signals, as well as in power electronics. The circuits of analogue phase splitters, inverting a signal, can be constructed on the basis of a transistor amplifier, a transformer with two secondary windings, a bridge circuit, inverting and non-inverting amplifiers, connected in parallel. In power electronics a phase splitter usually converts 1-phase alternating voltage into multi-phase voltage, necessary to power electric motors. In the past, an electric machine phase-spiller was widely spread. It often represented a 3-phase asynchronous motor with a square-cage rotor, with windings connected in star. Moreover, the winding of the third phase is connected not to the zero point, but to the winding of the second phase. Thus, it operates as a 1-phase motor, and the magnetic field of the rotor induces a current in the third phase. This results is not quite symmetrical 3-phase system, the angle between the second and the third phases is about 90 degrees.Currently, these phase-splitters are replaced by less noisy and more efficient electronic phase splitters, consisting of a rectifier and an inverter. In electronics a phase splitter is used to produce an inverted signal, to convert into a differential signal, to create a number of phases for a modulator or a detector. In the service band a phase splitter, in contrast to a phase changer, shifts the signal phase, regardless of its frequency.
