I swear (I am an árt student) I nearly felt my heart stop when I heard that a damn *art* teacher *encouraged* Ai Art.. like, my poor art teacher (he actually draws and is really helpful with our works) would have a heart attack from those words alone

I had an art teacher who told me anime wasnt art at all and it looks all the same. so like i study drawing anime and tried studying other stuff. was curious of fantasy stuff so I drew a chinese dragon as part of our sketchbook assignment. got told i should stop drawing dragons and try something new was flabbergasted cause first time ever drawing a dragon and was trying something new. Like this is from a teacher who draws dead animals for art which cool if u like it. I like my artwork if not in anime in a fantasy type real i do art as a escape method. i dont want it to be too bound to reality.

this was also from the teacher who wold dock our grades heavily if student didnt do art she liked. then had the nerve to tell the class you shouldnt do art assignment you think will just make me happy i dont grade on that. A bunch of us all spoke up that we changed our art to what she would like cause our grades went from c- to b+ and up in the class. she went quite and apologized and told us to stop and changed how she graded our stuff from then onward in university. Gave suggestions and found artist for us to look at that actually helped grow in our creative art style and not conforming to being into the same art as us.

If someone says that anime is not real art but encourages ai “art” then they should never teach an art class. Need I say more?

Man this happens in my class too, toxic teachers in design schools is soo common. Today we had our jury and my professor was just with 2 student the whole day coaching them how to answer questions, he clearly knows that they copied their designes from pintrest. Targeting and toxic workplace kills student

I had an art teacher who also wasn't a fan of anime, but instead of discouraging it, she encouraged broadening what you know and are comfortable with to improve it. She would encourage people not drawing anime to try to draw like it as well because every style has something you can take away from it and the goal is to make the best art we are capable of and that looks different for everyone. This extends to other art forms as well.

I drew a dragon once in art class and my teacher was like "oh that looks so weird, that's not what humans look like at all! You're so bad at drawing!" and then drew all over my pencil sketch with red pen

As a techie i love ai art from a technological perspective BUT AND A HUGE BUT, I also paint, draw and have other artistic hobbies. I hate some modern art but i make micro pixelated paintings.. So im guessing those people wouldn't like mine either ..
