I do use a glass pallet. Painted Grey on the back. Works fantastic.

Amazed at the talent and patience it takes to do all the detail in this painting and others like your lighthouse. I need to get you connected with another friend of mine. He is really successful with his work and may have tips to share with you. I have one he painted for me of my dog at the time I could afford his work. Now his paintings are way out of my reach. Keep the focus on what you are doing and always learning as you go. Your approach to teaching others is also a way of learning.
