Religious authorities teach that they alone can approach the Holy of Holies and make supplication for the people. That the populace can approach God only through religious authorities by believing blood sacrifices appeases God; therefore, people obtained "forgiveness of sins."

Jesus repeatedly taught that we would receive the Father’s forgiveness of sins according to our willingness to forgive others - for it would be done to us according to our own sowing. Jesus also taught us to approach the Father directly and pray in simple terms, asking for what we need in life and assure us that we would be heard and our prayers answered, providing we pray with total faith - with no doubt in our minds. We must understand that everything Jesus taught was in direct conflict and opposition to what the Elders taught, which was why religious authorities hated and crucified Jesus, since Jesus was robbing them of their exalted positions as "personal henchmen of the Almighty."
