Bruh, Giselle got in SM via open auditions (aka, the hardest way to get in) she has all the talent to back her up and is obvious why she was added (can write lyrics, auditioned as a rapper [aka a rarity in SM], can sing, fluent in both English and Japanese, same age group as the other members). Basically the perfect fit for the other members’ skillset.

Ningning's father is a engineer/architect not really sure which but is in construction field. Her mother is a designer (or used to be), also Ningning said that she got inspired to sing because her mother also sing so she could also be a pro singer or just a good singer.

Giselle didn't pass the saturday audition and being one of the 8th artists in sm to do so just for people to discredit her. Being rich is just a bonus. She genuinely likes writing lyrics, rapping and singing and she really did great.

Giselle is very talented. Her rapping and singing are good and her dance just needs more polishing but it's her dancing is fine and it's understandable because she had less training. And she is a huge asset to the group. She's a Japanese-Korean that can speak Korean, Japanese and English well. Giselle just needed to be in the group. With Giselle, You've got your group a Japanese and English speaker. I don't think it had something to do with her connections.

Every Kpop group needs a main rapper and Gi is the only one in the group. As they have only 4 members, every member plays a very important role in pushing the group's success.
Gi is the only fluent English speaker. Without her, the group will not enter The West or the Us market easily. all are important.

Karina does have solo gigs, SK’s government hired her TWICE during her first year to (1) promote Seoul with a mini series and (2) ambassador for SK’s M-Clean campaign. SM probably made an exception to their tule because it’s an offer from the government.

Ningning is another rich one. Girl casually buys and replaces things. She literally buys new airpods whenever her current pair goes missing because she can’t be bothered to look for it 💀

Winter’s a military kid (she said she most likely would’ve been a soldier if she wasn’t an idol afaik) she grew up in a family that’s works for the military. Her and Karina are probably the most normal ones but these two are also the most popular in aespa. I can see both of them bagging multiple CFs and OSTs in the future.
