The air resistance will be lower in higher atmospheres meaning the bottle will have travelled faster if droped from space (until it was slowed down and heated up when it gets through the thicker air)

that bit at the end was clever... im guessing when the bottom is weighted, and you throw the bottle more horizontally than vertical, you can almost guarantee that result. I bet the engineers realized that during testing and gave zac the idea, well played.
