It was never designed for use on shielded enemies, more for lightly armored humans.

IRL troops rarely use full auto on rifles, that's what machine guns are for

So, the MA37 is ONLY featured in Halo: Reach, and is one of only 2 Army variants of the Assault Rifle platform, the other being the MA40, the AR we see in Halo Infinite. In Halo CE, 3, and 4 are the MA5B, MA5C, and MA5D variants respectively.

The weapon pulled of the Chief's back is in fact the BR75 Battle Rifle, not the M392 DMR like you stated. The BR has a 3 round burst and a 36 round mag, while the DMR is a single-shot weapon with 15 rounds in the mag.

The Assault rifle is also better than you think, as it's purpose is to equipt a main-line squad with multiple of these guns, and subsequently, use firing squad tactics to eliminate enemies in closer range.

The BR and the DMR, however, are designed for much longer ranges. The Battle Rifle is a mix between AR and DMR, while the DMR, the DESIGNATED MARKSMAN'S RIFLE, is built for more extreme ranges, and is a lighter alternative than the much heavier SRS class sniper rifles.

Do your homework before making a fool out of yourself.

ah yes, the Ma37, then goes on to show every AR variant that isn't the ma37.

Ah yes, a rifle, *ineffective at long ranges*

To be fair 19 rounds to kill a fully sized Spartan laden in energy shields with Titanium armor is p impressive.

It's for gameplay purposes. IRL it's probably gonna be similar in performance with modern 7.62×51 caliber automatic rifles such as HK417 & SCAR-H.

It’s not really ineffective at long range in lore, MA5B, a relative of the MA37, had an effective range of 500 meters in lore, it’s mostly gameplay balancing, although it kinda is obvious as well trying to full auto both in-game and in lore would cause accuracy to taper off

The MA wasnt initially designed with shielded targets in mind. It was made with the intent that the opponent could be dropped in one or two bullets, so its meant to maximize the chances of hitting them, even at the cost of long term consistency

In lore it’s effective range is much farther and full auto is rarely used. It’s the way it is in games for gameplay.

I'd say that's pretty realistic. You'd almost never see a real soldier firing in full auto with their rifle.

Everyone forgets that the MA37 is the original basis for the Navy and Marine Corps MA5 Series. It is iirc, a 115 year old design.

It is actually extremely accurate at long ranges. It just isn't in the games for balance.

If anyone read the booklet that came with the OG Halo:CE game, it gave tips onhow to use each weapon... Such as firing short bursts with the assault rifle for better accuracy
