I took on the challenge of starting from Terraria 1.0, the very first update of Terraria (not including beta versions), and finishing on the newest and latest Terraria update, 1.4.4. This was super fun, and it was awesome to go back to the old updates and see how much the game has changed!

If you enjoyed the video, please like and subscribe! We are pushing to hit 50k, I know you guys can do it!

This is NOT a pirate tool, as it requires you to actually own your own copy of Terraria on Steam. This is what I used for the majority of the updates, but it will only go as far back as 1.1.2, as no manifests exist for prior updates from that point. So to get an update such as 1.0, the only way to play them is through backups. You may be able to find backups of these versions across the internet, such as on internetarchive, but I don't condone that as it is technically pirating. Hope this helps some of you :)

Don't forgot to subscribe <3

I absolutely love the fact that the common mushroom literally hasn’t changed like *in the slightest* over the years

"The game is almost over now"

If I had a penny for every time I'd heard that.
Can't wait for the next final update!

You really feel all the quality of life changes going back to older updates

Re-Digit said that if you die to a boss' attack while having also defeating said boss roughly at the same time, it counts as you, the player, winning.

I unironically want old hornets back. I'm so sick of constantly getting interrupted in my pursuits of an early boomstick by a fuckin bullet hell of stingers from hornets I can't even see due to being offscreen.

Since I started at 1.2, it’s amazing seeing all the progress before that. This is also a FANTASTIC creator and was surprised he had less than 100k subs

In the old DS version, you could wait in your inventory and potion sickness would keep going. You could pretty much cheese any boss.

I failed to get into terraria when I first tried it, simply because it frustrated me how I knew nothing about it compared to Minecraft as an example. Now i want to play again even though I have watched so many playthroughs that some people would call it completely spoiled.... Eh. I'm just happy all these videos are bringing back what made me get the game in the first place. Thank you for contributing to that 💝

this was genuinely a huge nostalgia trip, been playing since 2012 and remember being excited for every update (no matter how delayed 90% of them were) surprised this channel isn't bigger

Actually you could have made an artificial snow biome for a 1.0 world. In fact that's the whole purpose of the frost legion. The enemies in the frost legion drop snow blocks so you could get snow enemy drops in prior worlds. It's also why it's the most pointless invasion event in the game as it's purpose is basically gone.

Going back to the old version of any game always feels super different. It's like the uncanny valley of gaming

This game is the very definition of _"labour of love"._

I'm pretty sure the snow legion is still in the game (If I remember correctly the summon is dropped by a frost moon enemy), allowing you to get the snow, dropped by all the enemies in the event, that is needed to create an artificial snow biome, letting you fight deerclops on your 1.0 world.

Probably not worth the effort but it is possible

It was insane how difficult Duke Fishron was, it was considered the final boss of 1.2 though so it’s kind of obvious

Yeah gotta love Terraria, I picked it up a long time ago for $2.50 and have been playing all the different versions. So much free content added throughout the years and QoL additions it really is amazing. I don't remember there only being wooden chests but I do remember sky island chests requiring gold keys to be unlocked so that used to be post dungeon content. And then ofcourse the BIG update when Wall of flesh was added and hard mode was introduced.

31:01 Snow biomes were actually introduced in 1.1, but they were rare and bare-bones, so 1.2 fleshed them out and guaranteed that a world would generate with one.

Huge bits of nostalgia for me, having started the game on launch and having one of the first clans fail when we realized we had no clue how to do multiplayer without tons of problems xD

Look as great as modern Terraria is I’m always gonna have an affinity for 1.2.4 given that mobile was stuck on that update for like 3 whole years and that was the only version of Terraria that I played for a while lol. Great video bro!

Actually the Snow biome was introduced in 1.1.1, the Christmas update; 1.2 just changed it so it generated on all worlds, whereas before it was only guaranteed to generate in new worlds during the Christmas season, having a 1 in 3 chance of being generated otherwise :)
