My take on what a spare tire mount could be on a trailer.

I lower my spare on my F150 from time to time and oil the cable then roll it back up.
I seen a cable break from rusting out once on an S-10. Guy pulled out of a store driveway and hit the transition to the road and his spare fell off in a cloud of rust and dirt.
He never even knew. I followed him down the road to a gas station and informed him what happened, he went back to get his spare.
With that said, I love your set up with the lowering rod already in place and the same size lug / nut welded to the end to make the changing of the flat seamless.
Great idea, take care and God Bless.

It seems like almost everyone uses a drill with thread taps. I've never done it in 50 years but I plan on it next time since everyone thinks it's a good method . . .

Great idea Jerus. If someone is concerned about clearance and getting hung up then they could mount it closer to the trailer axles.

I like the idea, not having to lift the frigging thing by hand. Up here in Canaduuh though, they salt the living crap out of the roads in the winter. I wonder how this would hold up against that.

Great job well executed and presented. But I dare say you’ll be cursing the idea the first time you use it in the rain
