One thing I suggest for people performing this test is to ensure that the shoes are removed. Some types of shoes may make it more difficult to discern the actual lifting of the heel off the ground.

I did this test and my heel slightly moved up but not fully, I think thats because I still have some swelling on my knee, does this mean my acl is ok?

Hey, i love watching your videos, i just wanted to request you that can u demonstrate all the special tests of one joint in one video. For example one complete video on knee, including all necessary tests of ligaments, meniscus, patello femoral pain etc.

All these tests are fine but I’ve returned multiple negative lachmann, lelli, anterior drawer and have a stable ACL deficient knee…. You have to get an MRI to be sure and even in that case sometimes the ACL can be more intact than the imaging reveals …. just from someone who’s had 3 reconstructions and now living without one in my right knee

Isn't the patellar tendon so strong to do the knee extension while applying force on quadriceps?

Can you perform this test on yourself?

Suspected I tore my acl 19.5 years ago, avoided seeing the dr so it wouldn’t be on my record when joining the army.
Recently diagnosed with Osteoarthritis but PA wasn’t sure about acl tear. Had two recent bad episodes of instability femur going one way and tib/fib going other and scheduled for MRI. PA tried all the regular tests on me but not this one. Just tried and seems according to the test that it’s torn.
I will follow up after the MRI to let you know my findings.

I think the inability to elevate the heel due to inhibition of the quadriceps by nervous system after injury to decrease forward translation ?
