On Monday, March 17, 2025, Daniel (Don/Dan) Stepanik passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 87 years.
Daniel will be lovingly remembered by his children, Michelle (Brooke) Fraser, Darren (Erica) Stepanik and Gail (Bernhard) Stepanik-Keber; grandchildren, Morgan and Finn Fraser, Roman and Kara Stepanik and India Rose Keber; sister, Audrey (Kelly) O’Shea; along with numerous extended relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his wife, Andrea; partner, Mary Boonstra; younger brother, Eugene; and parents, Mary and Frank.
Daniel was born in Myrnam, Alberta and the family moved to Innisfree when he was 10. After finishing high school, he spent time becoming a draftsman in Calgary where he met Andrea. As newlyweds, they moved back to Innisfree so Daniel could take over the family Esso dealership delivering fuel to the farm community.
Daniel was a community builder. He and Andrea served the Innisfree community in multiple ways and his pride was the Innisfree Recreation Park and Innisfree Hall. He was Mayor of Innisfree for a period and went on to serve on various boards and committees in the region. Daniel was an avid curler, golfer and enjoyed playing cards, dancing and a good party! He loved his children and grandchildren and travelled near and far to visit.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the healthcare aides and RNs at Good Samaritan Stony Plain Care Centre for their compassion, care, and unconditional love for Daniel over the past four years.
A memorial celebration will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Park Memorial Chapel, 9709 – 111 Avenue NW, Edmonton. Cremation has been entrusted to Park Memorial.
