Funk guitar and bass sings for themselves. So hypnotic and beautiful. I am a sucker for dorian, phrygian and lydian. Lydian will never get boring on me though, it would be dope to hear it in more funky songs too. I know dorian is more funky just because it feels calm yet wants to move as crazy as it still can, it is also the main thing in medieval music like Celtic, army and sea shanties. I come to think funk is just an electric medieval, and that is why Shrek does it so hilariously well, you got hypnotic rhythms mainly of dorian mode, you got lots of bass movements and drums, plucked and voice like guitars/ lutes, bells ringing, quick violin stabs, deep surroundings of warm pads and
mallets. It really is the same thing.
