It's no wonder this star goes through as many destructive cycles as it does, when something as common to the mortal experience as grief is enough to summon a Primal.

One interesting thing about sophia is her enrage in the extreme version, which is a cannon simulation of what she was like at the height of her power. For the enrage, she summons 8 light circles, or 8 dark circles, a scenario intentionally impossible to balance. So ultimately, to ensure her own survival, she is willing to abandon everything she claims to represent. She’s no Ramuh, that’s for certain.

A full transcript of the lyrics was shown at Fanfest Las Vegas 2016. According to Michael-Christopher Koji Fox, the lyrics describe a Meracydian family torn apart by war against the Allagans and Sophia's brand of "justice" and "balance": after the father is slain in battle by the Allagans ("A torn uniform in hand, farewells unsaid"), the mother becomes abusive ("Forsaken, beaten, tried, on her knees") and, at Sophia's request, the daughter murders the mother to restore the imbalance created by her father's death ("The heart seeketh equilibrium / With balance will your worry part"), and then commits suicide, punishing herself for murder and leaving their home empty and forgotten ("And therewith shoulder thee / One last step only leaving / An empty hearth down by the sea").

What if Sophia decreed the daughter commit suicide not because of "revenge" for the act of killing her mother. But because she was still conflicted and missed her mother, "a heartbeat without harmony"

Learning that it took Koji Fox 2 hours to write the lyrics to this song was wild, what an absolute mad lad.

I think the chanting vocals heard at the beginning and throughout are saying “CIN-TA-MAN-I”

The Cintamani stone is a wish-fulfilling stone and is referenced in one of the Goddess’ attacks!

The story of how Sophia has been summoned is extremely tragic and it's all in the lyrics

I used to listen to this song for relaxing, until someone pointed out the lore...

Sophia never really struck me as "evil". It's more like she's completely dedicated to keeping balance. If that requires something bad to happen to keep that balance, then she has no qualms about doing it.

"Can you bring Equilibrium?"
"Come forth scales of revelation"

Understanding the nature of the primal and the story of the song makes the lesson kind of dark. So by Sophia’s logic, in death all is equal? It’s a somber but excellent soundtrack.

Me: 'Oh cool a FF6 callback to the Waring Triads'
*Listen to the song*
Me: 'Wait there is actual lore?'

This song is pretty unique (which is not saying much ffxiv has tons of genres) and a real banger too

the sound the scales make in this fight its freaking good... i feel like that single sound effect is lacking right at the beginning of the song

The face popping out at 0:52 is quintessential Final Fantasy design

I love this song so much, it’s just too bad that every time I get it in trial roulette the boss goes down before we ever get to hear the whole song :(

My favorite EX Trial. I love the running around to balance the scales and everything.
