'Platero and I' Reading to Simon.

A friend in Vermont gave me one of the great fictional works about donkeys - "Platero and I," by Juan Ramon Jimenez, Nobel Laureate from Spain. Donkeys have figured heavily in literature all the way back to the Bible down to Don Quixot, but "Platero and I" is one of the most magical, capturing the sense of companionship which can emerge between a human and donkey. I read one of the stories - "Friendship" - to Simon and will read more to him over the next few weeks. I love the book very much. Donkeys are magical.
