I just started to put up a 100 ft set, but like you said it does require some thorough planning. My home is a ranch style: built in 1954. Well, I've hit a bit of a snag here: For starters, I thought there might be issues, so I installed two light strips with temporary duct tape before I pulled the pin with the temporary adhesive (then screw in). My configuration has spaced 2x4s going from the side of the house to the metal gutter...and it's tight! This means there is no way to slip the wire behind the 2x4's. So, I have a choice: OPTION A, mount the lights underneath the metal gutters with the adhesive. This would maximize the 100 feet which would keep the lights proportionate throughout. However, this would have the lights more than a foot away from the side of the house. OPTION B, run the line up and under the 2x4s (they are not evenly spaced to begin with); however, that would mean I will need another 50 feet or come up short...which would look s**t. I'm going with OPTION B...so what if it doesn't look proportionate--it still looks fantastic, and it is very practical with home security. It's a tad bit of a plumbers nightmare, but both sets were discounted for Halloween. I'm good with that.

Thanks for the comprehensive review!
Is there a setting to only have the lights activated when a face is detected? i.e. ignore any motion
