CentOS 6 Review - Linux Distro Reviews

A review of the much-anticipated CentOS 6 based on Red Hat Linux Enterprise 6. After 10 months of development, this distribution is a free and stable solution to the enterprise world. Although the included software and desktops (Gnome and KDE) are relatively old, the software is more than functional, and the distribution performs incredibly well. Bugs are non-existant, package management is 100% working, and the system ultimately works the way it should. Solid five stars.

Thanks, I use Centos 5.x in a real enterprise setting, and i always install server no gui. We use CLI for all configuration and installation. I guess this would be ok but I'd like to the server no gui review with some of the commands used.

there is an option that you need to enable in order to have an explorer for the file viewer

Try Mate Desktop. It's a Gnome 2.x fork but you can install it on up to date linux distros so you can get the latest stable kernel and programmes without getting rid of the Gnome 2 functionality (it's fully compatible, applets and gtk2 themes work)

You probably don't want to use CentOS if you want to use GUI. It's primarily a (web)server distro, and a damn good one at that!

Centos 6 reminds me a lot of Debian 6 from a desktop perspective, although I prefer Debian both are great !!

@visionlost GOT IT... in CentOS 6.0 there is not csh but only the new tcsh (csh improved): christos zoulas you make a mistake: I NEED THE OLD CSH!
