Bob James and Earl Klugh's "Cool" was my dad's favorite album of all time. He always said that he wanted this record played at his funeral, and, unfortunately, in 2004 that request became a reality. It was a really weird, kinda funnily cathartic moment at his funeral to be sitting in the church he grew up in and eventually married my mother in to be listening to this - in my and my siblings' opinion - really cheesy smooth jazz record. It just screamed "Dad" to us in the best way. But we didn't really appreciate the music. And here I am, sixteen years later, listening to this song... Bawling my eyes out not only because this song so intensely reminds me of my father, but it's also a truly beautiful piece of music. I guess with age comes a maturity and appreciation for things that seem kinda cheesy in youth. I'm, admittedly, a huge douchebag about my taste in music, and, whether or not he would appreciate it, my dad had a huge impact on my taste. I'm glad to know that I can revisit things like this that I found cheesy (but so "Dad") in my youth, and finally understand and appreciate the enjoyment he found in them. Thank you, Bob James and Earl Klugh. This is truly a beautiful album.

Takes me back to 1994 in Merele street, KwaZakhele. I would play this one as I would be doing my chores. Wow, I enjoyed it then and I still enjoy it now.

Award winning song that never got full props, melodies in this song was insane, I think the drummer was Harvey Mason, a master song and album.
