The RED price cut announcement makes so much sense now. The $4K-10K market is on fire right now.

I’m a c70 user, love it. I was pleased I preferred b footage over a footage. Reassured I’m with the right brand. I agree that a S35 version of the C80 would be great. The sdi output now means the door is open for the very nice kinefinity evf. for this camera which is almost enough reason for me to get it. Nikon/Red-will be watching this space with great interest.

Appreciate all the comparisons and visual examples!

Would love to see a full frame TGO… Triple Gain Output. Because the DGO on C70 is just fantastic and it would be amazing to have all the upgrades of the C80 hardware and software wise, including triple base iso, while also having that gain output technology. Plus CF Expresss Type B media! 💚

I'm curious to see a detailed dynamic range test between the C70 and C80. Reportedly, the C70 had a slightly better dynamic range than the C400 because of its DGO sensor. If the C80 is the same, then I'd say that's a step back for Canon.

After trying all kinds of cameras, I still prefer Blackmagic cameras. They may not have the best specs, but they’re the ones that inspire me to shoot.

This is almost everything I’ve ever wanted in a cinema camera, yet, why don’t I really want it?

Hopefully this influences Sony to include internal NDs in the FX4.

It is not a full frame C70, more like a compact C400.

Great video once again.
So did I get this right? 4k50 and 4k100 are only available in s35 crop mode? That would be a dealbreaker for me personaly, since i shot the vast majority of my projets in 4k50...
But anyway, I am in the market for the R5II, since its a good upgrade for my R5 and I also do lots of photography work.

Btw: the difference in contrast, colors and dynamic range between the fx6 and the C80 is not so critical in my opinion, that can be done in post mostly. BUT THE DIFFERENCE IN DETAIL?! WOW! The c80 certainly shines herre!

Nice! Still not a sexy camera by design, but the image looks good and specs are great!

Hello CVP,
I found information online that the C400 has a taller sensor compared to the C80 ? Can you confirm it ? Is for room for the stabiliser or is there a crop factor between the two camera ?

They're using a 3:2 sensor just like in the C400, when is Open Gate coming? Come on Canon, it's a no brainer.

Will it do 6K 60p RAW via HDMI to a Ninja V+ to record in ProRes RAW?

Did I miss it or was it not revealed which was the C80 or the FX6 for the side-by-sides?

Canon.. that SDI port design is laaaazy. And the fixation on SD cards needs to really move on. Almost all other competitiors have jumped to CFe by now so again, this one is a bit of a lazy miss.
Judging by what looks like just a 3d printed top handle and cold shoe tacked on, I'd imagine Canon (or maybe Tilta?) can work on an electronic top handle to make use of that new hotshoe. Perhaps even remove the need for the Tascam unit entirely by having a directional mic and two XLRs built-in like the old days. Though it'll probably be £500+ :/
Overall some good upgrades, but also some simple misses that make you wonder who's making the design choices 🤔
