Hey guys! I'm Alexandra Gater and I show you how to do rental-friendly upgrades and DIY projects on a budget. Be sure to follow me on Instagram for our monthly video schedule! In today's video, I'm transforming a cozy 253 sq ft studio apartment into a mid-century modern dream. I'm sharing tips on how to create separation in a studio apartment and a DIY project that turns a previously non-existent entryway into a functional (separate!) area.

It really warms my heart to see that you have gifted him the Aphrochic book! It is so refreshing to see a non-black designer supporting the work of black designers and gifting it to another non black person to appreciate! This is big, whether you know it or not.

I know we can’t stop talking about Graham every time, but how can we not? His execution of his builds always look so professional and If I was a landlord, I’d ask to keep these installs bc they’re so good 🤣

WAIT-- what can't Graham do??! That's probably the most beautiful entryway I've ever seen! AND it blends in seamlessly with the apartment like it was always there 🥲

That divider has to be one of the most beautiful things graham has made, the rich tones and the curved shelves, also the placement with creating a box for the entryway, wow!

Only 2 small things bothered:
1. Cramped bed space.
If only you would give more space like 15inches in between bed and divider so he can tidy the bed linen from the other side.

2. Stickers on upper windows.
You should put blind stickers only in lower windows and not covering all windows. So there's still a chance to see outside.

Just my thoughts.

I’d love to hear from people who received a studio makeover, how living in such an upgraded space changed their self conception, improved their confidence, etc. it’s not just about the design, it’s an inner renovation as well!

This is better produced than many TV shows of this type which air. Give this girl a TV spot so she can make some real $$

Amazing is that Alexandra (and the team) seem to know the personalities of the people ... They seem, in their surprise, almost to recognize themselves on the decorated spaces. Very special.

Let’s all appreciate how James makes the video more entertaining each episode with all these inserts 😄👏

Another tip: I use the white version of the same IKEA blind as a projector screen. Cheap and efficient 👍

I am 58 years old. When I was your age, I felt like there was so much pressure to be "grown up". We wore power suits to work, we all wanted to be little Gordan Gekkos, we didn't fill our homes with things we loved and that made us happy - only "status" items that would make us look cool. Now, I just fill my surroundings with things I loved, including books and toys from my youth. I regret the all the time I did without these things. I envy and admire you for filling your home with the things you love. It's absolutely beautiful!

Next on my list - I'm getting the Kit Kat clock I've always lusted after!

Can we pleaseee get a “meet the editor” video? The “drag him” that flashed when AG talked about the faux plants made me snort laughing

Gorgeous makeover! To the editor, thank you for including a longer reveal of the persons reaction. That’s such a great part of the videos!

While I love the room divider (it's beautiful and so functional), you should have made the entryway narrower to allow space to walk between the room divider and the bed - easier to make the bed, and easier for a second person to get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom without having to climb over the other person.

I love this makeover!! But can we please stop calling grahams professional woodworking projects that take days, sometimes more than a week, to prepare beforehand “diy”? Sure, technically he did it himself, but he (probably) spent a lot of money outfitting his workshop and has the vibe of a fourth generation woodworker

I enjoy to watch you make over apartments for men because men do rent and like nice places as well.
