In this 10-minute video, Professor Cimbala applies the equation of hydrostatics to analyze the force on a submerged inclined plate. He also analyzes the location on the plate where the resultant force acts. Finally, he shows a practical example problem - the force on a round plate on an inclined wall.

In 6:34 what are you referring to when you say that we have to do a little bit of math knowing this location?

Hello professor! One question: i solved the simple integral from 5:40 for the case presented, and it gave me b/2 which is equal to Ytc and not Yc as mentioned. This makes sense because the integral doesn't take into account the depth "s" of the object. Is this logic wrong? Thanks!

Professor, I have one problem that I have been stuck for some weeks...maybe you can give me a hand...
It is a problem where the fluid hits a sumerged constant area that is inclined. The issue here is that this sumerged piece doesn´t have rectangular shape, it is triangular. In conclussion, it is a triangular gate which gets hits with a fluid in one of its sides.
Can you clear me the path a little, thank you in advance!

On your example problem, when you calculated Fr, why didn't you include sin(theta)? Don't you need to include it since it tilted?

is there an easy way to know when to use h or y as height? i keep associating the letter h with height and would automatically use it for my calculations, before realizing that it's actually y that i need to use
