My Drone Cinematography MasterClass is FINISHED!

Hey Drone Gang! Today’s beginner drone tutorial centers around a recent realization: I finally understood that the simple practice of filming myself as the singular subject in the scene was responsible for my deeper understanding of drone cinematography: better lighting the subject, strong composition, better storytelling basics and much more.

Don't ever change, Ted. You're a tonic to all drone photographers and videographers. Thanks for this 'shot' ;)

Absolute LEGEND of a man, Ted! As I've said before, just can't help but smile watching your creations. From a not-so-cool 47 year old, you're 100% the coolest 51 year old around. Keep it going my man 💪🏻

I love your term “flying camera” vs drone. Really gets to the root of differentiating a tool for creating art vs. a “gadget”.

The ending is epic! You are the most inspirational YouTuber. The “T-Shirt”, KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID. Focus on lighting and composition. Time of day, location, subject. Just feeding back what I learn from you. Do Don’t Dream

Thank you!

I love the ride you take us on in all of your videos, Ted. Thank you so much for bringing us along. Each creation strays within it from one path to another, and I don't know how you do it but it all fits together somehow, no matter how far apart the paths may become. You teach a lot through your messages and I think your excitement is an important part of it. //Tom

Great video Ted. We were just discussing the importance of the time of day and lighting last night and I couldn't agree with you more. It makes all the difference in the world. As far as the rude comment goes, that person has never experienced the feeling of joy we get while flying. It's a feeling not everyone has experienced or understands. Thanks so much for sharing. I woke up to a notification that you released a new video and that made my morning more than my cup of coffee and morning reflection. I appreciate your passion.

Really awesome episode, Ted! 🤩I rarely film myself, but it's a genius idea for the cinematography exercise ⭐
I play similar tricks with the light as you did with the shadows - returning again and again to some locations, seeking the great light.

You're truly an artist... 👨🏻‍🎨⭐

I totally agree with the excitement of discovering this. I have my drone (Air 2S) in my camera box so to speak, but I've always been trying to capture shots from the sky of scenery. Seeing how putting myself in the shot is kind of like framing a picture with branches in the foreground to add depth. It's a fundamental. And the whole notion of being able to put the camera anywhere I had been missing that aha moment. The comment that someone said it's just a drone, obviously doesn't get photography. Being able to put the camera anywhere at any angle and have it follow you. I've known that it can do this but I never realized that putting myself in the picture is going to add a dramatic effect. Haven't been this excited about a YouTube video for a long time.

Agree. Every landscape or other scenic shot is made more interesting with a human subject and the most available human subject is usually yourself. And yes, a video that tells a story is better than one that is pointless. Good one

3rd video of yours I watched ever, and just started within this hour.
I think you just liberated me from overanalyzing hell with the drone.
I firmly believe "It's the driver, not the car"!
I feel the same way about computers, creative arts, and most other things!

Everyone who gets lost in technical stuff, never experience or create properly.
This is about making photo/video scenes.
The settings should never get in the way of the process!

Ted, I have been binging on your videos like a cookie monster in the last few days, your positive energy and the videos are super captivating and exactly what I needed! Just before I found you I was asking myself the exact questions that I keep finding answers to in your videos while smiling and feeling so much joy the whole time! And as a beginner, I love the the main information about the composition and stuff is getting repeated coz it will be more engraved into my little brain. I feel so inspired and feel like what youre sharing is really coming from the heart. Beautiful human being you are. Thank you and good luck in your adventures :)

That episode is soooo good. Very insightful Ted. You've really upped the game with your editing. Colours, cinematic bars, quick zoom in's. Brilliant. Loved the colours and shadows on the train tracks and that portrait silhouette at the start is awesome. Great ideas. ❤
