Juniper EX Switch Analyzer Setup and Test

A short video demonstrating how to mirror a port on an EX switch to another port.

In this demo, we'll be mirroring traffic from a link that simulates a WAN connection for my eve-ng MPLS lab. A Pi3 will be connected to our output interface and a simple tcpdump command will allow us to monitor the traffic generated by the analyzer.

This configuration example should work on any modern EX switch running ELS code. Legacy hardware like the EX2200 and EX4200 use a different configuration, as do port-mirroring configurations on our router platforms. If you want to see these variations in action, just let me know in the comments and I'll put another video together.

As always, my content is driven by questions and comments by viewers. If there's something you want to see or a question you would like answered, please, don't be shy!

Hey Colin, a simple Google search brought me here for a cybersecurity use-case. Great video, really appreciate how you explained the topic!

Would this analyzer show me IP packets? I have an access point I'm trying to capture all the wireless traffic off of and for some reason I only see layer 2 packets. I essentially want to see the packet of when my phone visits a certain website in wireshark.
