With 30 years of automotive industry experience, our founder Dwayne Saunders recognized the need for providing auto repair through a different lens. After a brief trial-and-error business model, he opened Genuine Automotive & Diesel in Austin, Texas, in 2019. The concept of superior auto services and repairs and real customer care makes perfect sense to us, but it was so novel to our local clientele that customers voted to include “genuine” in the shop’s name. You’ll find us convenient to multiple major roads (between I-35, the MoPac Expressway, and Wells Branch and Scofield Ridge Parkways) at 13806 Turbine Drive Austin, TX 78728. We welcome walk-ins Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. To ensure quick access to a service/repair appointment, you can reserve your time using our online scheduler or by calling us at (512) 866-0212.

We have 2 cars, a truck, a motorcycle and a house without payments. These aren't new but as perfectly maintained as possible.

I never have had a car payment because I have driven the same truck for the last 7 years and I bought it for 10, 000, it’s a 2004 Silverado, and every other vehicle I’ve bought since then has been even older 😂

Unless you need a certain vehicle for work aka to make a living. .. you don't need a payment and can get a vehicle to suit your needs for pretty cheap.

since they were nice enough to share...me, it's 620$ a month for my 2020 f150 for 7 years. bought it new (demo) 42000$ + 6000$ tax (canadian), but my trade in paid for those. i got a good deal. it's blue, well equipped with the 5L and i have a 7', 6" fisher plow on it for my home, my small app building and 6 costumers...:) ps...and i really love my truck...lol

I paid off my awd Hyundai Tucson over a decade ago. I purchased it for a little under 30k with my 9 year old Ford Escape trade in which needed to be towed in.. I have about 140K miles on it however since I work from home most of the time since the pandemic I don't need to drive 38 miles to go to work as often.

I used to think that being a mechanic allowed me to avoid having a car payment, because I could use my skills to keep a sweet old car gorgeous and running great. That’s true when you’re a kid working regular hours at someone else’s shop. Once you own your own place, and start questioning if you should get rid of your house and just sleep on a cot in the office, you realize that the last thing you want to do during your off-time is stop working on someone else’s car and start working on your own. When a repair goes bad, and I have to work hours where I’m not making my labor-rate, it drives me crazy. Working on my own car means, not only am I not getting my labor-rate, but I’m also wasting time that I could be getting paid to work on a customers car. No matter how you cut it, it’s better to drive a newer car and to send it down to another shop and pay them to fix it. That way, the job you’re working on is paying for your repairs while they get done, and you don’t get all the problems that can arise when you let one of your own guys work on your car. Cause if they do great work, they suddenly think you’re best friends and so they don’t need to show up on time or maybe they can just pocket the money they get when they do a few little quicky jobs. After all, you are buddies. Or, if something goes wrong, you’ve suddenly got a potential for a hostile work environment. Nobody wants to be the guy that messed up the bosses car. What if he desperately needs his car and suddenly everybody needs to stay late to fix it? Too dangerous, either way. Let the competition handle it. Makes for a great opportunity to get to know them. You can even fix their cars. Plus, if you go out of business, you can go down to them and ask for a job.
