The Orphic hymns summon the Ancient Greek Gods to help and evolve mankind. Mankind needs to evolve and uplift himself to the perfect version of himself. Night, Nyx, mother goddess, source of sweet rest, from whom gods and humans first emerged,

Hear me, blessed Venus, Kypris, adorned with starry light, dwelling in the deep silence of dark night!

Dreams and gentle ease follow your shadowy entourage, delighting in long darkness and festive song.

You dissolve anxious worries, friend of joy, riding the earth with midnight steeds.

Goddess of illusions and shadowy games, your sleepy power splits the natural day.

By Fate’s command, you send light to the deepest underworld, far from mortal eyes,

For relentless Necessity, which nothing resists, binds the world in unyielding chains.

Be present, Goddess, for your suppliant’s prayer, desired by all, revered by all alike,

Blessed and kind, with your friendly help, banish the fears of twilight’s terrifying gloom.
