Would love to see a pros and cons comparison video between this product and the brine shrimp direct hatchery disk you reviewed.

I know this video was a year ago, and y'all probably figured out what heater works best for you by now, but I just want to say -- the Aqueon Pro 50W is a PERFECT fit and has the added benefit of being adjustable and accurate

I brought one from aquarium co op. I hang mine on my aquarium rim inside the tank so it stays the same temperature as the tank .

The tetra ht10 could be a good option. You can find it for pretty cheap on Amazon. Only has one setting though but all small heaters usually do.

I just harvested my first batch out of my ziss incubator last night, and I was trying to filter them through my sieves that I got on Amazon. I was only able to get about 1/4-1/3 of the shrimp to go through the pre filter sieve. I wasn't sure if most of the shrimp just got too big to go through or if I was doing it wrong. Luckily not too many egg shells came out of the hatchery with the shrimp. I had the temp around 76° and I harvested them after about 24 hours. I was wondering if I should've turned my heater up to 82° so that they hatch quicker and don't grow so big next time, or if I should get a different set of brine shrimp strainers. I understand from reviews of the strainers that I wasn't the only one with that problem. After watching this video it makes sense that a lot of my brine shrimp grew too big to go through the net.

Nice. I've watched four videos on this subject and this is the only one that made sense.

7:51 I’d raise up the heater off the gravel so it’s not touch it. There’s a reason to do so I can’t remember why

great video. i use a aqueon 50W; its a solid state heater which is quite stable.

Did you ever figure out a solution for heating the hatchery water?

Always love the quality of your videos! I do prefer feeding out live brine but my fry respond just fine to frozen baby brine as well

I've got 2 DIY hatcheries built from 20oz bottles. My small fishroom is my basement. It's cold down there (low 60s) and I don't heat the hatcheries. It takes a full 48-72hrs to get a good hatch, but that's OK. Better than heating the room or fooling with a heater just for brine shrimp IMO. For BBS I find that aquarium salt is overkill. Kosher salt is cheap, makes a lot of brine, and is readily available. It solves well in the DIY hatcheries because they are typically fed air from the very bottom. Salt can't settle and stay crystalline. I'm with you regarding the rinse! Probably a waste of time but I'm at a sink anyway, may as well rinse them. Good tip about the tiny ice cube tray. I'll have to hit up Amazon for those!

i like this shrimp hatchery! get loads of brine shrimp. so much have decided to restart my dwarf seashores tank. its supper easy and every day you get loads of BBS. No mess no fuss. Its a bit pricey, , But after using it its well worth it in terms of trouble free and ease of use.

Great video, you've inspired me to try it out. Gonna also use your paper towel rack idea along with it. Did you ever figure out which heater to use with it? That's my only concern with it, mine is going in my basement so I'm gonna need a heater for sure.

In the bay area it can even get cold in the summer time. Overall no major extremes though for the most part. Though that seems to be changing.
