I once went to visit a friend of mine in the West Village about 25 years ago, When I went inside her apartment none other than Molly Ringwald was sitting at the table., They were just chatting away. It took all I had not to fan-out. She was as nice as can be. She is a true legend to us kids of the eighties.

Molly is also a singer. She did a jazz album about 10 years ago. Her dad and her would perform in the Sacramento Jazz Festival. Molly is also an accomplished short story writer who published a book of fiction about a decade ago that was very well received. Molly also is fluent in French and translated a memoir last year.

What a great role for her. I can’t wait to see how the rest of the show plays out. Episodes one and two were amazing. And Molly did a great job of playing a character much less obsessed with appearances than the east coast swans. Her whole manner is so much more relaxed and carefree in her first scene.

Molly is right about the prom dress. Having some gorgeous dress and looking like all the other girls wasn’t the point, fitting in wasn’t what her character and Duckie were all about. Andie thought she looked pretty in the dress and that was all that mattered.
