A federal judge has ordered Washington County to stop holding defendants in jail with public defenders for more than 10 days. The county's district attorney issued a statement calling for state leaders to take action on Oregon's public defender crisis.

they have the option to represent themselves or to get a private defenders, so there is no need to release them if they have no public defenders. they can hire a private one or self represent or wait until there are public ones available.

It would be different if instead of continuing this a work action can prevent it like they do in other counties & states for public defenders & a cap on specialists, so sad.
