"Sing a Sad Song" is a song written by Wynn Stewart. It was recorded notably by Merle Haggard in 1963, who's version became his first major hit. It was later recorded by Stewart himself. In 1976, Stewart's own version became a major hit as well.

WODERFUL MR MERLE HAGGARD. Have Loved His Singing since I was 12 or 13. That was back in late 60's & early 70's. His Son's are doing some Good Music

This song is one of my favorites, I sang it and many of his songs I loved them all. I was told that I sounded just like him, we were both raised not far from each other, him in southeastern Oklahoma me in Fort Worth, Texas. That is what I was trying to do, sound like him! The biggest compliment one would give to a musician without screwing it up.
