Lyrics:
Sing me a song of sadness
And sing it as blue as I feel
If a tear should appear it's because she's not here
Sing a sad song and sing it for me
She's unhappy with me
She told me so
I'm unhappy without her
And I still love her so
Oh sing me a song of sadness
Pretend it's the end of the world
Sing it sweet and sing it low
And then I'll have to go sing a sad song
And sing it for me
Sing it sweet and sing it low
And then I'll have to go sing a sad song
And sing it for me

Great performance and Merle did well to hit the higher note. One of a kind. We were blessed to witness this creative and golden voiced man.

WODERFUL MR MERLE HAGGARD. Have Loved His Singing since I was 12 or 13. That was back in late 60's & early 70's. His Son's are doing some Good Music

This song is one of my favorites, I sang it and many of his songs I loved them all. I was told that I sounded just like him, we were both raised not far from each other, him in southeastern Oklahoma me in Fort Worth, Texas. That is what I was trying to do, sound like him! The biggest compliment one would give to a musician without screwing it up.

Love Merle, think he is the best all around voice ever, but Wynn Stewart does the best job on this one.

What a voice and isn't it great how the Hagg tells the story. I like the way the audience cheers when Hamlett does his cameo.
