Algebra 1 Unit 3 Lesson 12 Solving Multi step Equations, Part 3

I didn't do it the same way as he did but I got the same answer. First I did the Distributive Property and Multiplied 2 with everything in the parenthesis. After that, the Equation became very simple. Is this also another way of doing it or should I continue doing it the way that was taught in the video? Plz reply
