When I watched this movie, I thought Zara and Chris would have a sibling type of relationship, which I thought would be fun, but that is not how it went...
Honestly, I know the movie was trying to make us love Zac and the mom together, but it just made me uncomfortable. Like yeah, Zara was pretty selfish and immature throughout the movie, but like, imagine having a boss you hate and have been actively complaining about to your mom for 2 years, and THEN SHE STARTS DATING HIM??? Now you just have to pretend like you haven't been talking crap about him for the past 2 years?? That would be so uncomfortable, man.
This would have made a whole lot more sense if the mom didn't realize he was her boss till later. Honestly, I may have been on board with the ship if that was the case.
I'm still upset that I was robbed of the brother sister relationship I thought I was gonna get

You know what the worst part of the movie is? This is gonna reinforce the idea in teenagers that they need to be in charge of a company by the age of 24 and if they dont it will hurt their feelings.

Amazon Prime has "The Idea of You", so Netflix has "A Family Affair." Similar concepts with Older Single Mother, Younger Famous Man, that happened to come out within over a month of each other!

Friendly Space Ninja made a video, “Damsel and the Netflix movie curse”, and in it, he has a theory, which is honestly amazing beginning to agree with. These movies they are putting out aren’t movies. They’re ads for Netflix. They cast as many big name/recognizable actors as they can, give them mediocre and boring lines and plot. Because the plot doesn’t matter. Drawing in new subscribers is what matters.
