Veterinarian here. This procedure has not be allowed in most states for a long time now. They don’t even teach it in school anymore but even if they did, most of us won’t perform cruel procedures like debarking or declawing.

If you have to alter an animal, rob it of normal communication or defense in order to live with it, then you shouldn’t have that animal.

Debarked dogs aren't even silent, they often make an incredibly sad almost gasping or choking sound instead.

My grandpa used to be a vet, whenever their customers asked him to debark their dog, he would instantly kick em' out.

This is actual abuse, this, declawing, dewinging, these are the things people should be fighting against in animal protection groups

We got our dog at a shelter; he didn’t bark once for the first two months we had him and we were worried he might have had this procedure done. The relief when he barked for the first time was immense. He’s 13 now and always asks to be let out in the evenings just so he can bark at nothing for a little while :)

declawing and debarking should be illegal. if you don't want noise, don't buy a dog. if you don't want your couch to get scratched, don't buy a cat. nature won't bend for you just so you can have the positives only.
