I've never had that algae issue.
I would personally take out the fish first, then the wood and all infected plants. First in a two to one solution of hydrogen peroxide and water, soak them until all the black Beard is fizzed up, might turn purple!
It's working!!! Use more water than peroxide! About ten to twenty minutes.
Then depending on the integrity of the wood, and any stones, not the gravel, dip them in boiling water for about five minutes or just replace the wood.
A good tank overhaul; gravel vac, rescape, filter scrub!, DO NOT DO ANYTHING MORE, THAN RINSE OUT THE SPONGES IN THE OLD TANK WATER YOU'LL DISCARD AND DEPENDING ON SIZE OF TANK SAVE AT LEAST ONE THIRD OF THE VOLUME WITH YOUR FISH!!! Also keep this water aerated via pump and air stone while their home is being renovated.😎🙂
Reset the tank, and let run minus the third of volume for a day. Then add your fish.
Cheers,
Michael
