One of the kindest and most humble people I have ever met. The stories she could share - Like incredible. and this is an wonderful performance

I heard on another channel that Melanie was used to playing for 30 to 40 people in a club before she sang at Woodstock. She wasn't used to playing in front of thousands! She had to have been extremely nervous! She was only 22 years old, too. Brave kid!

Melanie, my mother was friends with your father. He was visiting us in N.J. and mother asked me to show him what we bought today. I handed him your album: Candles in the Rain. His eyes lit up. He was very proud of you.
Rest Your Soul in Peace, Melanie🕯

Beautiful singer and lady. At the end of her concert she just sat on the front of the stage and talked with anyone who came to her. That was back in the mid 70's

She was, and will always be, the voice of that era.
She made Dylan songs better than Dylan..
and everyone fell in love with her.

I had a rough time growing up one day while shopping in a bargain bin I found a tape “the best of Melanie” my name being Melanie I was intrigued and spent the ..99 for it. This tape changed my life and got me through a lot of hard times. So sad she’s gone she brought so much joy to so many people

I never knew her songs were recorded at Woodstock. It is never shown. What a powerful extraordinary performance. All by herself in front of the largest audience in history. Thank you so much Melanie!

Melanie said she was “terrified out of my mind” to be playing at the massive event, and was actually happy when it started raining hard during the set that preceded hers: “Ravi Shankar went on and it started to rain and I thought, that’s it, I’ll be saved because people are gonna go home now, because it’s raining. Of course, they’re going to go home! I mean, they’re not gonna sit there in the rain.” Of course, they sat there - and loved it...

"Melanie's solo set was short but sweet though you can hear her anxiety in her voice. She performed at 11 pm on Friday, the 15th. Melanie played instead of The Incredible String Band who refused to play while it was raining." I love her...

For Melanie--
Melanie, you sang Mr. Tambourine Man
at Woodstock
In the jingle jangle morning
After raising your candle high all night
In the rain

Later you sang the dollar song
for a nickel,
Oh, what have they done to your song Mel,
Ils ont change ma chanson

Melanie, are you living in a good book now?
No need to sell tears now
They tied them in a plastic bag somehow

Some came to sing, some came to pray
And you kept the dark away
According to plan, peace will come

Peace will come?
Ils ont change ma chanson

Strange interpretation here, with Dylan's lightness banished. Tambourine Man in Melanie's very personal version of the song sounds much like the Grim Reaper. Like a premonition of how her own death would be.

Such a unique singing voice, makes me wonder how she sounded in a chat.
