An urban pop art masterclass in from Hackney based artist Ed "Opake" Worley.

The Drug of Art aims to encourage young people to find their medium of expression and be creative! We are working on creating online masterclasses to be able to reach as many young people around the UK to take part and be inspired. Whether you are interested in drawing, sculpting, crochet or looking for a creative way to reflect, one of our talented artists will be able to teach you a new way of creating something you’ll be proud of.

At the Drug of Art, we want to build a community of young people through our physical and online workshops to come together with the same interests of the love of making and learning new skills. A safe space that encourages reflection, experimenting and art for all!

About The Drug of Art:

My name is Alison Lapper - I am an artist, presenter and disability campaigner. I'm also a member of the Mouth and Foot Painting Artists. You may recognise me from the Alison Lapper Pregnant statue by my friend Marc Quinn, erected in Trafalgar Square in 2005.

I know the power of art and how it can help you overcome anxiety, grief and get you out of some very dark times. I've experienced these dark times first hand after the tragic death of my son Parys.

As a result of my loss and in the hope to make a difference for others, I am pleased to present ‘The Drug of Art’. Through a series of workshops, podcasts and a touring exhibition, the Drug of Art aims to encourage the use of art and creative expression to help young people with their mental health and wellbeing, combating the isolation and loneliness that has only become more commonplace since the Covid-19 pandemic.

Please help us make this project happen by supporting our Crowdfunder.
