This video focuses on Aristotle's work, the Categories, and examines his discussion in chapter 10 focused on one main type of opposition, namely that between affirmation (kataphasis) and denial (apophasis).

My videos are used by students, lifelong learners, other professors, and professionals to learn more about topics, texts, and thinkers in philosophy, religious studies, literature, social-political theory, critical thinking, and communications. These include college and university classes, British A-levels preparation, and Indian civil service (IAS) examination preparation

I enjoyed the clarification that statements of affirmation and denial are different than the thing in existence itself. We can confirm or deny the quality of the thing, but the thing itself is not either of those statements, its the reality that feed the affirmation or denial statements in the first place. Simple but easily overlooked. I'm a big Star Trek fan and I chuckled at the part about folks arguing over denial and affirmation of a fictional reality, that's a past time for Start Trek fans it seems. Being that fiction is all basically language and affirmation and denial still apply reiterates how these arguments are different than the things themselves. Informative and well thought out video.
